The Hungarian Society of Saskatoon is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Hungarian culture.
It has been representing the Hungarian community of Saskatoon since 1949. The Society's mandate is to promote,
upkeep and propagate the Hungarian culture, language, traditions and history of the Hungarian people among
the membership of the Society and among fellow Canadians.
The Society hosts several functions annually; giving all Hungarians and their friends of all ethnic origins an opportunity
to get together socially.
These functions include such events as Spring Dinner & Dance; Mother’s Day Tea; Summer Picnic;
Grape Harvest Dinner & Dance and a Christmas Children’s Party.
In addition to social functions the Society also sponsors and supports:
* A weekly Hungarian radio broadcast on the Saskatoon Community radio station CFCR (90.5FM)
* The Children's Group is offered to the young children of the Hungarian community.
* The Pacsirta Dance Ensemble perform at Society events and at local events such as the Canada Day in the Park.
The Hungarian Society is especially proud to be part of Saskatoon Folkfest, which is held in August of each year.
